In preparation for the 2012 Alberta General Election – taking place on April 23 - ArtsVote Calgary has sent survey questions to the provincial parties, all of the candidates for Calgary ridings, and all of the senate candidates. Keep reading to see their responses!
Some of our counterparts in other parts of Alberta have also distributed surveys, including the Professional Arts Coalition of Edmonton, Save Our Fine Arts (SOFA) and Allied Arts Council Lethbridge.
PARTIES
We asked political parties to respond to the following questions:
- What is your arts platform?
- What do you believe is the province’s role in fostering the arts?
- What do you believe is the role of the arts in education?
- What plans do you have to provide provincial funding and/or encourage private funding for the arts?
- Any other comments?
We asked the MLA candidates in Calgary ridings to respond to the following questions:
- What has been your favourite experience with the arts in your constituency (or in Calgary/your city)?
- What do you value most about the arts?
- What do you think is the greatest need regarding the arts in your constituency? How do you plan to address this need?
- Any other comments?
