Arts groups facing economic challenge

The Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations released its annual report on the state of the sector a while ago and the finding for arts groups is a concern. While two in five organizations across the voluntary sector reported an increase in revenue over the past year, the report notes that “Arts and culture organizations appear to have experienced a difficult year, with over half of respondents reporting a decrease in revenues.” The report also notes that arts, environmental, culture and recreation groups all reported smaller increases in donations from individuals, but that...
